Nordic/Cross-Country Skiing

Downhill:
White Pine Ski Area is located ten miles from Pinedale, operating through a special use permit in the Bridger-Teton National Forest. They offer alpine skiing and snowboarding opportunities in the winter season. Lodging and food services are available at the ski area and in Pinedale.

Cross-Country/Nordic Skiing

The Pinedale, Wyoming area offers both groomed trails and off track skiing in the Wind River, Gros Ventre and Wyoming Mountain ranges. The vast open spaces offer solitude, diverse terrain and the freedom to go as far as you want.

White Pine Ski Area offers 35-plus kilometers of FREE cross-country ski trails. 9K groomed for classic and skating lanes. Parking is close to the trailhead. Food and restrooms are available at the White Pine day lodge. Nordic ski equipment rentals are available in Pinedale at the Great Outdoor Shop.

The area along Skyline Drive offers over 60 km of marked groomed trails designed to accommodate all levels of ability. Skiing in the Wind River, Gros Ventre and the Wyoming Mountain ranges is on logging roads and off track, and is generally for intermediate and advanced skiers. There are over two million acres of public land in Sublette County, providing vistas of incredible beauty to the nordic skier. Season: The skiing season typically runs from December through mid-April.
A note about safety: Many ski trails are at elevations of greater than 8,000 feet in elevation. Also, winter storms can occur rapidly in this area. Please come prepared.
