Walk-In Hunting Area Atlases now available
August 14, 2005
Maps to Wyoming's 505,527 private land walk-in area acres for the 2005 hunting season are now available at license agents and Game and Fish Department offices. The free 58-page atlas featuring 317 areas in 21 counties is also posted on the G&F website.
Matt Buhler, the G&F’s access coordinator, reminds hunters that walk-in areas are sometimes not open the entire season for that species.
"Don’t assume that all walk-in areas are open for all species all of the time," he said. "It is the responsibility of the hunter to know when the areas are open and for which species."
Hunters and anglers can continue to help fund the Walk-In Area Program, now in its eighth year. Each license and application has a box to check for an additional contribution to the Private Lands/Public Wildlife Access Program through Access Yes. Last year 482,396 private land walk-in area acres were available for hunting.
