(Pinedale) Members of the Pinedale Volunteer Fire Department committed $1,500 of their personal funds to augment the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves’ Toys for Tots annual toy drive, and Angel Tree Gifts. EnCana Oil & Gas (USA) Inc. matched the fire department’s funds to help purchase toys and items for disadvantaged families in Pinedale.
Families visited the Pinedale Volunteer Fire Department on December 16 and 17 to pick out toys purchased by the department, or donated by community members.
"The Pinedale Fire Department really appreciates EnCana helping out," said Randy Belton, member of the Pinedale Volunteer Fire Department. "We’ve been organizing the Toys for Tots drive for many years, and each year, it’s great to know that these kids will have a better holiday season."
In addition to Toys for Tots, the Pinedale Volunteer Fire Department also donated 15 gifts, including clothing items and other necessities, to Angel Tree Gifts, a program managed by the Pinedale Food Basket, Department of Family Services and Sublette County School District #1.
"We hope the toys and items serve a message of hope to these kids," said EnCana Regulatory Analyst Cally McKee. "Everyone deserves to experience the joy of the holidays."
In the spirit of the season, EnCana employees donated more than 100 new children’s books at their annual holiday party. Half of the books were donated to the Learning Center Preschool in Big Piney, and half were donated to the Sublette County Library to rebuild library collections in the Gulf Coast region destroyed by hurricanes.
Cash contributions were also collected at the party, and matched by EnCana totaling $2,284, which were donated to Jason's Friends, a non-profit organization that gives financial support to families whose children are suffering from cancer.
