Intermountain Freestyle Competition March 3-4
At White Pine Ski Area & Resort
February 27, 2007
This weekend the White Pine Ski Area & Resort will host over eighty athletes from several surrounding states at their second Intermountain Freestyle Competition. The event consists of two days of skiing with the Mogul contest on Saturday and the Freestyle Jumping taking place on Sunday.
The Mogul competition requires two timed runs down a bump run with two required jumps on the course. In addition to timing, skiers are judged on the quality of their jump. The Freestyle competition features skiers jumping off man-made ramps. Judges rate the height, quality and landing of the jumps.
The public is encouraged to come and watch these events, especially on Sunday where the Freestyle jumps will take place on the Competition run that is visible from the parking lot and the base lodge.
“We are excited to host this event for the second year,” said Stuart Thompson of White Pine. “Two local skiers will be competing. David McCarty and Zach Thompson should do well on their home hill.”
