Horse Creek Fire in Patrol and Monitor Status

With full containment of the 8,580-acre Horse Creek Fire, Saleen’s Great Basin Incident Management Team will transition firefighting responsibilities back to the Bridger- Teton National Forest on Tuesday, July 3 at 6 p.m.
The fire will continue to be monitored and controlled by a small contingent of firefighters from the Forest. Their responsibility will be to patrol, monitor and suppress any residual hot spots near containment lines. A helicopter will remain to assist in this effort.
“I would like to thank the community for their outstanding support,” said Incident Commander Merrill Saleen. “The efforts of the County Sheriff Department and Sublette County firefighters provided excellent cooperation and assistance with suppression efforts.”
Demobilization of resources will continue throughout the day on Monday. Firefighters will either return to their home units or be reassigned to other fires.
Fire Danger Rating on the Bridger –Teton is now Very High. A Haines index of 6 is predicted for Monday along with continued warm and dry conditions.
There are no trail closures on the Forest in the fire area. The Horse Creek Road remains limited to all but fire personnel. he cause of the fire is still under investigation. For more information, visit www.inciweb.org or call 307-739-5080.
