Pinedale Nordic Ski Grooming Report, March 10

March 10, 2009
This will be the last week of grooming at the CCC Ponds Pathway. We are required by the U.S. Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management to end our grooming activities there on March 15 of each year.
Plenty of snow remains on the Skyline Drive trails and grooming three days per week will continue into April as long as user interest remains. All trails from Halfmoon Overlook to Kelly Park and White Pine are in good condition with both a skating lane and classic track set.
The Forest Service installed electric eye trail counters this winter at several locations on the trail system. During a 5-week period in January and February, data from the counters indicate an average of about 25 users per day at Kelly Park and 22 per day in Surveyor Park at White Pine. These figures would project to about 5,000 skier days on the Skyline Drive groomed trail system during the normal use season of mid-December through March.
