PINEDALE – In an effort to help provide protection, assistance and support to victims and families of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking, EnCana Oil & Gas (USA) Inc. granted $5,000 to the Sublette County Sexual Assault and Family Violence Task Force (SAFV).
For more than 20 years, non-profit SAFV has been committed to reducing violence in Sublette County through prevention education. EnCana’s contribution will be used to maintain the 24-hour crisis line, offer safe shelter for victims, provide a trusting environment of help and support and increase the accessibility of SAFV’s services.
"The SAFV Task Force provides on-going support for those trying to improve their liveliness in a positive way," said Randy Teeuwen, EnCana community relations advisor. "We care about the safety and protection of our communities and believe the SAFV Task Force is a valuable initiative for the well-being of Sublette County residents."
According to Clover, in addition to offering crisis intervention, sheltering and counseling, SAFV also offers financial assistance and personal and legal advocacy. "It’s our mission to help victims work toward becoming and remaining self-sufficient," said Clover. "If an individual needs assistance with a house deposit, or if they are behind on their bills, we give them money. Through our Life Skills program, we teach them to be independent and self-reliant."
"Our services are free to anyone that walks into the building," said SAFV Executive Director Robin Clover. "We serve all individuals and their families who have been exposed to violence and sexual assault in Pinedale, Big Piney, Marbleton, Bondurant, Boulder, Daniel and Cora."
SAFV constantly strives to improve its existing services and always looks for new development programs. Last October, SAFV started offering support groups so no one has to leave the county to attend one. In addition, SAFV is currently implementing a service that involves working with faith communities and providing support through churches.
"EnCana’s contribution enables us to strengthen our services and helps protect the well-being of our communities," said Clover. "We are thankful for EnCana’s support, and all the organizations that have contributed to our mission."
