Pinedale 7 - Big Piney 0 Jason Meiring (P12) caught a 15-yard touchdown pass from JW Jensen (P15) for Pinedale's only score. Pinedale 7 - Big Piney 6 Shane Copeland (BP21) powered one yard for touchdown on 4th down to score Big Piney's first touchdown. Big Piney 12 - Pinedale 7 Rodney Feiock (BP1) caught this wide receiver screen and ran for a 10-yard tochdown to give Big Piney the final lead 12-7.

On Friday afternoon the Big Piney Punchers took back the Sublette County Bowl trophy they lost last year to the Pinedale Wranglers. In a close defensive battle the Punchers won 12 to 7 on their home field.

The Wranglers started strong stopping the Punchers for no gain on their first possession and then driving 53 yards to take a 7-0 lead on a 15 yard touchdown pass from JW Jensen (P15) to Jason Meiring (P12). On the next Big Piney series, the Wranglers stopped them again on 4th down and 1 yard. But the momentum ended two plays later with a fumble. After both teams exchanged fumbles, Big Piney took over the ball with 1st and goal on the Pinedale 10-yard line. On 4th down from the 1 yard line, Puncher Shane Copeland (BP 21) scored Big Piney’s first touchdown on a tough inside run. The extra point was blocked cutting Pinedale’s lead to 7-6.

Pinedale only threatened once more in the game. Late in the half, after a Jacob Brunette (P20) interception, JW Jensen (P15) passed 29 yards to Landon Wells (P45) down to the Puncher 1-yard line, but the play was called back for an illegal man downfield. In total Big Piney stopped four Wrangler drives with turnovers and three drives on downs.

Big Piney also struggled against a tough Wrangler defense but generally controlled the field position and time of possession battle. After a 3rd quarter interception by Ken Howard (BP 75), the Punchers took possession on the Wrangler 33-yard line. Like Pinedale earlier, Big Piney had a 29-yard touchdown run by Rodney Feiock (BP1) called back for a block in the back penalty. But the Punchers were able to overcome the setback and score four plays later on a 10-yard wide receiver screen touchdown pass from Zach Wenz (BP15) to Rodney Feiock (BP1). A two point attempt fail giving Big Piney the final lead 12-7.

Big Piney improved their record to 5-1 and will travel to Greybull next weekend. Pinedale drops to 0-6 and will host Lyman next weekend.
