Lisa Miles Curtis Ehlers’s sister, Julie Applegate, made this statement on Monday, Jan. 18, 2009, and asked that it be released to media – that her family will not be able to attend Troy Dean Willoughby’s first-degree murder trial for the June 21, 1984, shooting death of her sister.

"My family was not informed of the trial date. On Saturday afternoon I received an e-mail from the sheriff's office that jury selection for Willoughby's trial is starting tomorrow! I worry that our absence may cause people to perceive that we don't care, but with no advance notice, none of us will be able to attend due to circumstances of health and unalterable commitments. We can only hope and pray that justice prevails."
