Public comment sought on proposed Boulder South Communication Site
by Bureau of Land Management - Pinedale Field Office
September 22, 2010
Union Telephone Company (Union) has filed an application with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Pinedale Field Office (PFO) for the construction and operation of a new 150 foot communication tower and associated electrical equipment buildings to serve the growing cellular loads in the region. Verizon Wireless has also proposed to be co-located at this site with Union.
The proposed tower and buildings would be located in T. 31 N., R. 108 W., Section 10, on approximately .52 acres of public land. This location is approximately 6 miles south of Boulder and 0.2 miles west of Highway 191 on top of the ridgeline.
A temporary 80 foot tower and buildings on a trailer are currently at this location. The proposed 150 foot tower meets both height and structural needs and places antennas high enough to be able to hand off to existing and future towers. The tower height would also provide enough vertical real estate to accommodate other users.
The Pinedale Field Office is seeking public comments through Oct. 30. The scoping notice for this proposed communication site can be viewed at: www.blm.gov/wy/en/info/NEPA/pfodocs/bouldersouth.html
Mail or deliver written comments to: Bill Wadsworth, BLM Pinedale Field Office, P.O. Box 768, Pinedale, WY 82941. E-mail comments should be sent to Pinedale_WYMail@blm.gov with "Boulder South Communication Site" in the subject line.
