Pinedale Middle School to host Wyoming Southwest District MS Honor Band and Honor Choir Oct. 23

On October 23 over 190 of Southwest Wyoming’s top middle school musicians will meet in Pinedale and practice together in a concert band and concert choir setting. This day of intense rehearsals will culminate in a concert on Saturday October 23 at 6:00 PM in the Pinedale auditorium.
Directing the honor band will be John Aanestad. He retired from directing bands in Riverton and now is a clinician and adjudicator for bands all over the state.Leesa Kuhlman is the director of the honor choir. She is the director of choirs at Rock Springs High School.
Students from Sublette County performing in the band will be Pinedale: Abigail Fear on flute; Emmilee Eaton on clarinet; Abby Nelson, Ryanne Stevie and Lilli Jensen on alto sax; Tom Mitchell and bari sax; Sara Bousman and Sonya Legerski on trumpet and David Rule on trombone. Big Piney has Perri Meeks and Tayler Wright on flute; Russell Kenney, Megan Sims, Ryen Walton and Annie Wimp on clarinet; Dwain Kenney and Josie Barney on alto sax; Brexton Bennett on French Horn; Jace Marx and Sam Jones on trumpet; James Warr on Tuba; and Eric Salmeron on percussion.
Students from Sublette County participating in the choir from Pinedale are Dakota Cunningham, Sierra Hosea, Kyla Taylor, Renee Harper, Christina Kostelc, Emily Horne, Hanna Patterson, Shayla Wright, Brenna Stone, Devan LaMere, Fallon Ramsey.
Big Piney choir participants are Jordan Hardman, Anna Johnson, Aspen Sanchez, Alexis Sambrano, Alyx Wesley, Nikki Harman, Abby Moreno, Tayler Wright, Stephanie Knoll, Noemy Castillo, Jenny Caballero, Ashtyn Marino, Jeremy Forman, Terrell Hunter, Dalin Hughes.
These students were nominated by their local band and choir directors and then the host directors selected and built an Honor Band and Honor Choir from these nominations. Students participating are from the middle schools in Evanston, Lyman, Mt. View, Cokeville, Kemmerer, Star Valley, Big Piney, and Pinedale.
Come out and listen to this free concert by these excellent musicians Saturday night (October 23rd) 6:00PM at the Pinedale Auditorium. This event only happens once every 4-5 years in Pinedale – don’t miss the chance to hear this display of very fine middle school music. Please notice the early start time – this is done so the students and directors can get back home at a decent hour following the concert.
