Approximately 1,100 Rocky Mountain Power customers in Big Piney, Marbleton and Horse Creek will be affected by a half-hour power interruption on Monday, September 24, from 4:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The planned outage is necessary for employees to safely connect a new transformer at the utility’s Big Piney substation.

A mobile transformer has been in use temporarily, following a June lightning strike that damaged the previous substation transformer. The equipment plays an important role in delivering electricity to customers, stepping down voltage to levels that can be used in homes and businesses.

"We appreciate our customers’ patience while this work takes place and apologize for any inconvenience the power interruption may cause," said Chris Nelson, Rocky Mountain Power operations manager in Pinedale. "We’ve already installed a new substation transformer and now we need to connect it to our electric system. This final step should take only about 30 minutes or less, barring any complications."
