Upper Green area wildfire update

There are currently three wildfires burning in the Upper Green River Basin on the Pinedale Ranger District. There is an area closure and trail diversion for the Continental Divide Trail associated with fire activity from the Green Fire near Green River Lakes. Fire danger is currently rated Very High, but no fire restrictions are in place at this time. All roads into the Upper Green remain open. Forest users are asked to be very careful with fires and ignition sources. Numerous abandoned campfires have been found to date. Please make sure your campfire is completely extinguished before leaving it.
Packer Fire - 401 Acres, 100% Contained http://inciweb.org/incident/3588/ 3 people are currently working on this fire Cause: Lightning, started on August 2, 2013 The last update was on Friday, August 23rd: The Emergency Area Closure has been lifted. The fire has received rain over the past several days. Interior heat remains but no significant activity has occurred. Firefighters continue to monitor the fire. The public is urged to use caution when traveling in or near the fire as hazards, especially from snags, continue to exist. No additional updates will be given unless significant changes occur.
Green Fire – 1053 acres, No containment % given http://inciweb.org/incident/3605/ 6 people are currently working on this fire Cause: Lightning, started on August 2, 2013 Burning 20 miles northeast of Cora in the Upper Green, near Green River Lakes at the base of Osborn Mountain. There has been no significant activity on this fire. Crews are continuing mop-up and patrol to secure north and west flanks. Emergency Area and Trail Closure remains in place. The closure includes the fire area perimeter as well as a portion of Trail #7094 (Continental Divide Scenic Trail) from Green River Lakes trailhead north to the point where it crosses the Roaring Fork River. This closure is necessary to provide for public safety. Fire managers may reassess trail and area closures if fire activity changes. Kendall Fire – 698 acres, No containment % given http://inciweb.org/incident/3606/ 36 people are currently working on this fire Cause: Lightning, started on August 1, 2013 The Kendall Mountain Fire is burning in high, steep, rocky terrain in the Bridger Wilderness, east of Boulder Basin in the Upper Green River Valley. Precipitation occurred over the fire area leading to reduced fire behavior. Mainly creeping and smoldering. Smoke from the fire can be seen from Pinedale and surrounding communities. There are no closures associated with this fire as of the time of this update.
