Town of Pinedale update: Parking
by Parris Crooks, Town of Pinedale Municipal Code Enforcement Officer
March 19, 2015
Hello! My name is Parris Crooks. I am one of two Municipal Code Enforcement Officers for the Town of Pinedale. Part of my job is to enforce the Town of Pinedale’s non-criminal portion of the town code. My main responsibilities are in regards to animal control, snow removal, unregistered vehicles, nuisances, and parking.
The latter is what I would like to address today. There are just a few ordinances in regards to parking; which may be found on townofpinedale.us either under government or on the homepage, just click the link labeled town code.
The most commonly enforced of these parking ordinances are parking on the street over 48 hours, parking in the yellow, parking properly on the street, and parking where prohibited by sign. Parking any type of trailer or non-passenger vehicle for longer than 48 hours on the street can call for a citation or towing. Parking a passenger vehicle adjacent to your property for longer than 48 hours is well within the ordinance.
Portions of the curb in Pinedale are painted yellow. This yellow curb is an indicator of no parking; this means that there is to be no stopping of any kind in these areas, for any purpose.
As for parking properly on the street, this includes parking with driver’s side of vehicle to roadway which allows the reflective brake lights visible to traffic increasing safety for all, especially if visibility is low due to snow or other conditions. Parking properly on the street can also include leaving enough room between your vehicle and any stop or yield signs, which is a distance of 20 feet, and room between your vehicle and fire hydrants, which is a distance of 15 feet.
Finally, parking where prohibited by sign. Please, if you see a sign that prohibits parking, do not park there. It would be greatly appreciated. Just a quick reminder of other places where parking is prohibited: on a sidewalk, within an intersection, on a crosswalk, near construction areas, upon bridges, and in any alley except for commercial deliveries.
We enforce these laws to help ensure the safety of the citizens of the Town of Pinedale, as well as any travelers or visitors that may be in our area. _______________________________
