Aurora Borealis over Fremont Lake
September 9, 2015
Local photographer Dave Bell captured this rare Pinedale area observance of the aurora borealis on Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning (Sept. 8 & 9), saying it put on quite a show for over an hour. "Strictly a coincidence I witnessed it, I began photographing around 2AM, quit for a half an hour and then witnessed the most intense display I have ever seen around 3:30AM as the moon was rising. Unfortunately I am not particularly sharp at 3:30am and did not remember to adjust my manual focus ring to infinity (exactly) and most of my pictures are fuzzy. But, this one of the moon rising on Fremont with the aurora is unique as it shows just how far to the eastern horizon the northern lights extended."
