Wyoming COVID-19 as of Dec. 20th While other places say cases of omicron are surging, Wyoming reports just 3 cases in the state as of December 20th.
The dominant variant strain in Wyoming is Delta, with alpha second behind that. Hospital cases of COVID-19 in Wyoming have dropped significantly, to 82 from a high of 248 a month ago.
The peak of the second wave was in mid-September, 2021.
Deaths have dropped off dramatically since mid-October (high of 60) to the last report of 2 on December 5th. Deaths have been largely in people over the age of 60 with additional health conditions. To date, no one under the age of 18 has died of COVID-19 in the state of Wyoming over the past two years of the pandemic. There were 534 deaths in Wyoming by the end of December 2020. There have been 968 deaths in Wyoming due to COVId-19 in 2021.
To date, there have been no deaths in the U.S. reported due to the new Omicron variant.
About 21% of tested cases are breakthrough, people who have been fully vaccinated against the virus.
