New Parkinson’s Disease support group inaugural meeting Oct. 18
October 3, 2024
FOR THE REAL MOVERS AND SHAKERS OF SUBLETTE COUNTY! Do you have, or know someone who has, Parkinson’s Disease? This neurological disease spreads throughout the community, with no regard for age or status.
Many communities have Support Groups, which provide a get-together grouping of patients, carers and families. Sublette Shakers has been formed to advance this aim and help provide a support group/fellowship and information for families of and those suffering from Parkinson’s Disease in Sublette County. The first meeting will be at 11am on October 18th at Pine Coffee, Pinedale, and is open to all.
The Sublette Shakers has been organized by Sarah Gardner and Alan Blackburn. Sarah is a qualified Physiotherapist with several year’s experience treating and helping PD sufferers. Earlier this year she was a co-founder of Elevation Therapy and Wellness, with offices in Big Piney and Pinedale. Alan is 76, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2022, and is retired after the sale of White Pine Ski Resort in April of this year. "I have attended Parkinson’s Support Group Meetings in New Zealand where my wife lives," said Alan "and found them very helpful, with the mix of family, carers and actual sufferers!"
Sarah stated "Whether you have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease for 1 year or 40 years, we want to help! Our goal is to cultivate a community based around support for those who are affected by Parkinson’s."
We are planning a hub in Sublette County to talk about experiences, struggles, groundbreaking research and anything PD! If you are afflicted by the disease, or have someone close who is, please come along to our inaugural meeting to help with the group.
